Song Yuan

During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Anxi, the place where Tieguanyin was produced, had already produced tea in temples and farms. Ming Dynasty

By the Ming Dynasty, tea production had flourished, and the Ming Jiajing "Anxi County Chronicle" stated that "Tea, Shangqing. There are many people." "Changle. Chongshan and other goods (referring to tea) are sold a lot" records. Wuyi has been producing steamed Qingtuan tea since the Tang Dynasty. After the tribute tea in the late Ming Dynasty, tea farmers accumulated the essence of tea-making experience in past dynasties and created Wuyi Rock Tea. In the early Qing Dynasty, the tea industry in Anxi developed rapidly, and a large number of excellent tea tree varieties such as Huangjingui, Benshan, Bergamot, Hairy Crab, Meizhan and Daye Oolong were successively discovered. The discovery of these varieties has brought Anxi tea industry into a prosperous stage of development. A famous monk in the Qing Dynasty, Shi Chaoquan, had the poem "Xi tea is made by imitating rock tea, first roasted and then roasted." Tieguanyin belongs to oolong tea, which is between green tea and black tea, and belongs to the semi-fermented tea category. The birth of the oolong tea picking process is another major innovation to the traditional Chinese tea-making process. Anxi oolong tea is favored for its unique flavor and superior quality.

Tieguanyin belongs to the category of oolong tea and is the representative of oolong tea. According to records, Anxi Tieguanyin tea originated in the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, Anxi tea farmers selected and bred many excellent tea varieties, among which Tieguanyin tea quality was the best. Tieguanyin, a good variety of tea tree, is not very large, with draped branches, dark green leaves, soft and thick leaves, and fat buds and leaves. Oolong tea made from the buds and leaves of Tieguanyin seeds is also called Tieguanyin tea. Therefore, "Tieguanyin" is not only the name of the tea tree variety, but also the name of the tea.

After the advent of Tieguanyin, it quickly spread to surrounding towns such as Huqiu, Daping, Longjuan, Lutian, Shangqing, and Changkeng. In the 22nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1896 AD), brothers Zhang Naimiao and Zhang Naiqian from Anxi introduced Tieguanyin to Muzha District, Taiwan. And successively spread to Yongchun, Nan'an, Hua'an, Pinghe, Fu'an, Chong'an, Putian, Xianyou and other counties in Fujian Province and Guangdong and other provinces. During this period, the production technology of Anxi Oolong tea was also widely spread overseas, and the reputation of high-quality famous tea such as Tieguanyin increased day by day.
