Tieguanyin belongs to the category of green tea, which combines the glycol of black tea and the fragrance of green tea. It is one of the top ten famous teas in China. It originates in Xiping Town, Anxi County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. Tieguanyin has a mellow taste and fragrant aroma. It has a unique "Guanyin rhyme" and natural orchid fragrance, and has the reputation of "seven bubbles with lingering fragrance".

"Tieguanyin" is not only the name of tea, but also the name of its tea species. There are many legends about the origin of its name:

1. "Goddess of Mercy bestows tea"

Legend has it that around the third year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1725 AD), there was an old tea farmer named Wei Yin in Songlintou Village, Yaoyang, Xiping. He is diligent in growing tea, and believes in Guanyin. Every morning and evening, he will serve Qing tea to the statue of Guanyin, and he has not stopped for decades. One night, Wei Yin dreamed that he was going out with a lotus hoe, and found a tea tree in the crevice of the creek. Wei Yin felt strange, and when he was about to lean over to pick something, a dog barked suddenly, which woke Wei Yin from his dream.

In the early morning of the next day, Wei Yin followed the path in the dream to find the past, and sure enough, he found a tea tree like what he saw in the dream in the stone gap of Guanyinlun’s stone pit. Wei Yin believed that it was Guanyin’s dream, so he transplanted the tea tree to his home and cultivated it carefully. , named "Tieguanyin".

2. "The Emperor's Name"

According to legend, in the spring of the first year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty, Wang Shirang, an official from Nanyan, Xiping, Anxi, met with his friends in his Nanxuan study. At dusk, Wang Shirang found a tea tree while wandering alone outside the house, and transplanted it into the Nanxuan Tea Garden, and managed it day and night.

After several years of breeding, the tea tree is already lush with branches and leaves, and the tea produced is black and fat, fragrant and mellow. In the sixth year of Qianlong's reign, Wang Shirang was summoned to the capital to visit Fang Bao, the servant of the Ministry of Rites, so he gave Fang Bao this tea as a gift. Fang Bao saw that the tea had an extraordinary taste, so he sent it to the inner court. Qianlong praised it after drinking it. Therefore, the tea was black and sturdy, heavy and iron-like. Guanyin".

After investigations in recent years, many people believe that the name of Tieguanyin tea should be derived from its tea-like texture and the custom of Guanyin in southern Fujian. The reason why Tieguanyin was able to swept the world as early as the last century and set off a "Tieguanyin tide" is because of Tieguanyin's own excellent quality and unique aroma.
